PJ in a Day 2018

PJ in a Day
Do you want to raise funds for your favourite charity?

We are looking for charities, organisations and clubs, who have amongst their members or supporters experienced walkers, to take part in a marathon fundraising event on 29th September 2018 based on the new ‘A Pennine Journey’ long distance footpath.

Dubbed the “PJ-in-a-Day”, the idea is for each ‘charity’ to get some of their members or supporters to walk a section of the Pennine Journey and raise funds by sponsorship for their own ‘charity’.

PJ in a Day

The marathon is along the modern re-creation of a walk, ‘A Pennine Journey’, done in 1938 by Alfred Wainwright (AW). After writing his well-known pictorial guides to the Lakeland fells, AW wrote the first definitive guide to the Pennine Way, Britain’s first official long distance path (LDP), and followed that by devising Britain’s most popular LDP – the Coast to Coast Walk.

This event is to celebrate the 80th anniversary of him walking his Pennine Journey and is being organised by the Pennine Journey Supporters Club (PJSC) which was set up in 2012 to promote and support the walk.

It will be a repeat of a successful marathon which raised a considerable amount of money in 2013 and was organised to celebrate the 75th anniversary and the completion of the route’s waymarking.

Support will be offered to those taking part, simply email for further information.
